Explanation A stated backstory for the game (before SEGA retracted it) describes that Eggman was using his newest AI system, "SAGE", to take over the mysterious new machinery.For extra fun, there's this homage to the original parody that was made following the first showcase of Frontiers' gameplay. It helps that Sega has gained a reputation to hire professional fans thanks to projects like Sonic Mania and that the user that partially inspired the song had a video of Sonic running around a wide open world, both of which only fueled the jokes more. ![]() Shortly after the reveal trailer, which shows Sonic being placed in a realistic looking Wide-Open Sandbox, fans quickly started remarking jokingly that Sega had hired that man. Explanation Back in 2019, one YouTube user made a parody song based off of Johnny River's "Secret Agent Man" riffing on fans' tendency to beg Nintendo to hire fans based on their projects (which often revolve around simply inserting a character in a wide open field).Another common name for it was the "Spin Cycle". Before its name was officially revealed as the "Cyloop", many called Sonic's new trail move the Paraloop due to the similarities in appearance and usage."Sonic the Hedgehog: New Genesis", given the trailer reveals a striking number of similarities to PSO2NGS, being a long-time SEGA icon making the transition to a Science Fantasy Wide-Open Sandbox environment with vaguely post-apocalyptic elements. ![]()
